7TH Annual “Get Ready Ewa Beach” Emergency Preparedness Fair

The Ewa Emergency Preparedness Committee (Ewa EPC) 501(c)(3) will be holding its “7th Annual Get Ready Ewa Beach Emergency Preparedness Fair” at the Ewa Makai Middle School on Saturday, September 9th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is focusing on continuing its mission to, “establish procedures for the community of Ewa Beach that are designed to organize, assist, educate, support, and train residents on how to prepare for, respond to, and assist…” others in the event of a natural or man-made disaster by focusing on hands on disaster response training. Attendees will get the chance to experience the different aspects of CERT (Community Emergency Response Team Training), which certifies and teaches community members how to assist in the event of a disaster.

Hoping to empower and educate community members, this year’s theme is “Prepare Today, Survive Tomorrow”. This is a FREE EVENT open to all residents of O’ahu with a number of preparedness items to give away. You’ll learn how to be better prepared for the next natural or manmade disaster and other emergencies such as school lockdowns. You will also have the chance to visit nearly 50 booths staffed by participating organizations. Each will have more information on how to prepare your family and many provide additional give away items. Food booths and entertainment will also be provided.

Participating organizations include the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), City & County of Honolulu’s Department of Emergency Management, Hawaiian Electric Company, The American Red Cross, Honolulu Fire and Police, and many other private and public vendors.

The Ewa EPC, a volunteer run organization, is committed to its goals of making Ewa Beach a storm and tsunami-ready community, educating the community to be better prepared to respond to and recover from disasters, as well as to procure resources to aid in response and recover for the community. 500-1,000 community members attend this event each year and the Ewa EPC is happy to continue the tradition of hosting the “7th Annual Get Ready Ewa Beach Emergency Preparedness Fair”.
