Hawaiian Railway Society Seeks Roadway Solutions

Hawaiian Railway Society Operations Manager Steve Vendt recently reached out to Councilmember Pine to discuss the State’s proposal to extend North-South Road.

According to a recent article from Hawaii News Now, the State Department of Transportation wants to extend North-South Road, also known as Kualakaii Parkway— to connect Kapolei Parkway and Roosevelt Avenue. A proposed route could go right over the tracks.

Steve Vendt brought his concerns up to Councilmember Pine regarding the Rail Society ‘s property and how this connection could possibly affect the future of their operations.

Although the State hasn’t yet settled on the alignment for the extension, Councilmember Pine is setting up a meeting with State DOT for a planning update. To stay updated, please follow the news at www.councilmemberpine.com.
