Come and learn about the basic requirements and benefits of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and Ohana Units to find out if adding a second dwelling to your property makes sense for you.
At the outset of the workshop, Hawai’i Appleseed will provide an overview of the process for adding an ADU or Ohana unit, covering everything from the initial planning phase to tips on managing rentals.
Hawaiian Community Development Board will discuss the potential for ADUs and Ohana units for families living on Hawaiian Home Lands. The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands has not yet approved ADUs on homestead lots. Come learn more about what you can do to advocate for ADU approval to make this important means of alleviating overcrowding and increasing financial security available to everyone on Oahu.
Hawaiian Community Assets will discuss ADUs and Ohanas can be financed. At the workshop, you will have an opportunity to sign up for their free services, which include financial counseling and assisting with obtaining financing.
Attendees will also be provided with a copy of the recently release ADU Homeowner Handbook, which contains detailed information on the ADU development process. You may also have an opportunity to meet with local construction professionals attending the workshop, to learn more about their services and products.
