H-1 FREEWAY AIRPORT VIADUCT WEEKEND LANE CLOSURES
HONOLULU – The state Department of Transportation (DOT) advises Oahu motorists of continuing construction on the H-1 Freeway Airport Viaduct this weekend. Drivers should prepare for right lane closures on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction between the Kamehameha Highway Overpass and the Middle Street Tunnel from 7 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, through 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 13. All ramps to and from the airport will remain open.
This project will replace approximately 94,000 square feet of concrete deck on the Airport Viaduct. Weakened portions will be removed using high pressure water, and sealed with a fast-setting concrete to complete the repair. Expansion joint repairs and pavement striping will also be done. The project will consist of primarily weekend work and will run through 2015.
The DOT urges drivers to allow for extra travel time to the airport, and to drive slowly and safely through the work zone area.
