HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) is partnering with the Department of Human Resources Development (DHRD) to conduct two “Women in Airport Fire Service” workshops on Saturday, July 12, at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. The sessions will be held at the Airports Division Offices at the Honolulu International Airport, located at 400 Rodgers Boulevard on the 7th Floor of the Inter-Island Terminal Parking Structure (center entrance door). Each session is free and is expected to last approximately 90 minutes. Parking validation will be provided.

The workshop is part of a recruitment initiative designed to increase awareness of Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) careers for women. Topics will include how to prepare and submit an online application, ARFF career opportunities, and the firehouse culture from a woman’s perspective. Women are encouraged to learn more about a career with ARFF by registering for one of the sessions.

To register, e-mail, including your first and last name, your preference for the morning or afternoon session and the subject: “Women in Airport Fire Service” before 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014. Registration is free. Seating is limited to 90 women per session and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Register early to ensure a seat is available. Only registered, confirmed individuals will be allowed to attend the workshop and will be checked in at the entrance based on the email registrations received. No walk-ins will be admitted.

Individuals interested in receiving electronic notification on future State of Hawaii Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting openings may complete an electronic JOB INTEREST from DHRD. Visit, click on “REQUEST JOB NOTIFICATION BY CATEGORY,” select “Airport” and “Fire/EMS” check boxes and submit the Job Interest Card Information request.
