Haseko, Inc. is seeking a zone change for approximately 80 acres of the 1,100 acre Ocean Pointe-Hoakalei development to accommodate a change in its master plan for the Hoakalei portion of the development.

The Hoakalei Master Plan Update (HMPU) features a recreational lagoon as the focal point in place of the previously-planned marina. The rezoning request calls for rearrangement of the zoning district boundaries, but only modest shifts in the total acreage devoted to each type of land use. It would not increase the development density or the total number of residential and visitor accommodation units.

The land to be rezoned is located within the last undeveloped phase of the project. If the requested zone change and other required permits and approvals are granted, including a Special Management Area (SMA) Use Permit, Haseko will seek to complete the Ocean Pointe-Hoakalei development in accord with the updated plan.

The statutory 45-day public review and comment period has begun and comments are due by August 22, 2014. Please send comments to the applicant, approving agency, and consultant.
