As a member of the Budget Committee Councilmember Pine secured $5 million to improve bus service for the leeward coast in the FY15 budget. This appropriation for bus service included funds specifically earmarked for the restoration of Route E service to Waikiki and expanding service on other key routes, and reviewing the feasibility to increase service of Routes 42 and 94.
Together, these restorations will relieve overcrowding and provide more options to our families commuting to Honolulu and Waikiki.
Although Bill 69 (2014), which would have generated funds to improve bus service by allowing for limited advertising on the exterior of city busses was not passed by Council, this commitment of $5 million will help deliver much needed transportation relief to our working families in Ewa Beach.
