Two key transportation issues for Leeward Coast residents were discussed at this month’s Oahu Metropolitan Policy Committee (Oahu MPO) held on July 9, 2013.

The Farrington Highway Realignment Feasibility Study is a project to evaluate the potential impacts, costs, benefits and feasibility of realigning Farrington Highway mauka of the Makaha Beach Park. The Oahu MPO Policy Committee moved the study forward as part of the FY 2014-2015 Overall Work Program.

The Makakilo Drive Extension would extend Makakilo Drive to connect to Kualakai Parkway. The City presented an update of the Makakilo Drive Extension project at the July 9th Oahu MPO meeting. I worked with the Mayor’s Administration to secure the release of $3M for planning and design which is currently underway.

I know that both of these vital transportation projects for our District that are important to you. I will continue to keep you posted on their progress. If you have comments, questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me or my office.
