Kapolei – A city contractor is scheduled to begin extensive repaving of Kamokila Boulevard and Farrington Highway (Naʻu Place to approximately 360 feet east of Kapouka Place), starting on Tuesday, February 6, weather permitting (see map above).


The project includes, but is not limited to: cold planning; resurfacing and reconstruction of asphalt and concrete pavements; adjustment of utility manholes and covers; reconstruction of existing concrete curbs and gutters and installation of permanent pavement markings; vehicle loop detectors; and new concrete curb ramps.


Cold planing and paving activities are scheduled for overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Mondays through Thursdays.


Work hours for adjustment of utility manholes and covers, installation of permanent pavement markings, and vehicle loop sensors is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, with additional work possible on weekends. 


Work is expected to take up to three months.


Motorists are advised to observe and obey all traffic controls, posted signs, and special duty police officers while also proceeding with caution through the construction area. Drivers should anticipate delays due to detours, lane and road closures, and allow extra travel time while driving through the work areas.   


Contractor Maui Kupono Builders LLC is responsible for coordinating local traffic, including access to homes by residents, deliveries, trash collection and emergency services. On-street parking will be prohibited during working hours. Please observe the dates and times on posted roadway signs as illegally parked vehicles may be towed if necessary at the owner’s expense.
