This Audio Engineering Workshop Series is a part of Ulu A‘e Learning Center’s ‘Ike Ku‘una Program, which strives to build the skills of our residents and to increase educational opportunities within our community. Instructor, Ioane Burns of Burns Sound & Tech, LLC, has 20 years of sound technician experience and has run sound for events like the Iā‘Oe E Ka LāHula Festival, Ke Kani o Ke Kai, Kona Nui Nights as well as various concerts at Hawai‘i theater and stages at downtown Ho‘olaule‘a events.

 

The workshop is for experienced as well as aspiring sound engineers. Participants will learn the fundamental skills of audio engineering as well as advanced techniques of sound mixing for live events, concerts and festivals. The ability to mix live music well is what ultimately creates a quality atmosphere for all who attend events in our islands.

Decibel – various units of sound

General Sound Components (Amplifiers, Loudspeakers, Consoles)

Gain Structure

Equalization

Microphones, various input devices

Basic Networking

Mixing – Concepts/imaging

Gates, Compressors, Effects
