Traffic Advisory: Large holiday displays move from Pearl City to Honolulu Hale this week
Honolulu—Honolulu City Lights large holiday displays, including the iconic Shaka Santa and his partner, Tutu Mele, will be on the road this week making their journey to Honolulu Hale in time for the annual celebration which opens this Saturday night, Dec. 7.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday, a caravan of trailers transporting the large displays will leave a Pearl City warehouse at about 9:15 a.m. The caravan will travel east on the H-1 Freeway, taking the airport viaduct, continuing on Nimitz Highway, and arriving at Honolulu Hale at approximately 10 a.m. The convoy of trailers and lowboys will be escorted by Honolulu Police Department bike officers on all three days.
Besides Santa and Tutu Mele, the displays include elves, Rudolph, bears, gnomes, alphabet blocks, and Santa’s sleigh.
