The BWS contractor working on the reconstruction of Mailiilii Road now estimates that Mailiilii Road will be re-opened in mid-July. Reopening of the roadway has been delayed for a few weeks due to a design interpretation issue. Currently, the BWS contractor is waiting for new parts and equipment to arrive so they can resume work to construct a new headwall around the three 36-inch drainage culverts in the area. Once the headwall construction is completed, they will then repair and ultimately reopen the roadway.
The BWS appreciates the patience and understanding of Waianae Valley residents as we conduct these emergency repairs. The contractor is working as quickly as possible to complete permanent repairs to make the roadway safe for residents and drivers.
